SHE BELIEVED SHE COULD, SO SHE DID...

Dina’s life as a musician began before she was born. Thanks to the contagious love of music by her parents, music was introduced to her before she knew what music even was. Being raised in a household of classical musicians she was only four years old when she began studying voice, piano, and violin. Unfortunately, Dina’s parents were forced to leave behind their careers in music when they moved to the United States from Ukraine following the Chernobyl disaster. This alarming turn of events uprooted their life, but to them the beauty of music was far too great for them not to continue to share it with their daughter. Later, Dina also acquired additional training from the Berklee College of Music. Her classical beginnings and education all helped shape a singer with an accomplished technique who can sing with tenderness and sensuality in several languages.

She carefully infuses her vocals with gentle vulnerability and soaring power, showing impressive command of diverse material and moods. Dina Layzis has that special ability to conjure up intimacy in her music. It’s a voice that draws you in creating the sense that she’s standing mere inches away with a secret intended for you alone.

Music is air for the singer. She believes deeply that the magic found in music is one of the most important and beautiful things in the universe. She understands and feels the intricacies of emotions and uses that to communicate through music. She loves creating what was not there before, and loves those moments when inspiration strikes, when the world seems to stand still and something wonderful comes to life.

Dina has worked with talents such as Oscar-, Grammy-, and Golden Globe-nominated songwriter Jud Friedman. She has recorded a powerful selection of ballads with Grammy-nominated Marco Marinengeli, who has written and produced for artists such as Josh Groban, Placido Domingo, and Il Divo.

She has worked with world renowned composer/producer Rick Allison. Allison’s music has been an inspiration to the singer for much of her life and has played a pivotal role in her musical journey. The two have very intuitively understood each other’s style and see music in a very similar way. The collaboration took an unexpected turn when they easily began writing material together. Together they have created music full of truth, stories, emotions, pure gentleness and powerful vocals whilst intertwining nuances that highlight the singer’s roots and diverse musical background.

Currently she is continuing work with pianist / songwriter Jeff Franzel whose music has been featured worldwide and in major motion pictures including the Julia Roberts film - Runaway Bride. As a powerful co-writing team they have penned material which will be released shortly into the world market.
